I have been playing the drums for over 20 years. When I was very young, I expressed an enthusiastic interest in music, and began pestering my parents for a drum kit around the age of 7. Private lessons began for me when I was 9, and I started practicing daily. I joined my first band when I was 11 through a music center and discovered that I loved playing live. I learned to read music and set about learning songs and composing original drum parts.
I maintained my musical interest throughout school - I was in the symphonic and marching bands, and I was captain of the drum line my senior year. Not to mention several bands with friends - I ended up spending most of my free time practicing and playing.
I was the drummer for the Clemson University Jazz Band from 1995-1997, under the direction of Dr. Mark Hosler. Since my playing was heavily rock-oriented, I commenced taking private lessons again for a couple years so I could focus more on jazz and Afro-Cuban influenced grooves. I was an art/graphic design major in college, which helped me to be creative and think more abstractly, so I began applying some of these principles to my playing,
I have continued practicing and playing consistently since college. I have been involved in numerous bands and projects throughout the Atlanta area, as well as teaching drum lessons. I have an extremely diverse playing style and I am fiercely dedicated in my playing. I attended the Atlanta Institute of Music in 2006-7 and I was the first drum instructor for the Loganville Christian Academy drumline. I currently teach drum lessons at Music Matters in Alpharetta, GA (www.musicmatters101.com) and I am in several different bands, check out my myspace page (above) for a complete listing of my bands and all my upcoming shows. I am available for live gigs, drum lessons and studio work. Please contact me for more info and a complete resume. Thanks!
